The overpopulation of unwanted animals is costing Los Angeles taxpayers millions. Take a hard look at the tax dollars/manpower resources it takes to trap/house/kill them. 81,598 animals x $40.00 per year in Los Angeles during fiscal year 2006 equals $3,263,920.
The shelters do their best to place these surplus animals into loving homes. But the number of homeless animals well exceeds the number of available homes.
With the opening of
seven Clinico
low cost
spay / neuter centers
in LA., we believe there is a tremendous opportunity to
save lives and dollars. |

And each year in Los Angeles, thousands of otherwise loving and healthy companion animals in our communities are euthanized as the only humane solution to this tragic dilemma.
Over the past twenty years, high-volume sterilization has become the accepted response to pet-overpopulation.
In fact, it is the only way to level the playing field between birth rate, adoption rate and the unfortunate necessity to destroy surplus animals.
Clinico has conceived and is now implementing a five year plan that will relieve suffering for countless animals and contribute to the general well-being of the entire community.

To reach the goal of a measurable, sustainable reduction in animal shelter deaths, Clinico will offer affordable, high quality spay/neuter services in seven undeserved, low-income communities, starting with the Florence Firestone area. In addition we plan to provide the option of pet transport for the reported 30% of the population that do not own a car. Each clinic will perform 17,850 surgeries per year.
Los Angeles is rife with neighborhoods in which residents struggle daily to make ends meet. Although there is no evidence to believe that low-income people love their companion animals any less than those with more resources, there is strong evidence to indicate that the majority of litters relinquished to animal shelters come from under-resourced neighborhoods and that these relinquishments are a result of few if any convenient and affordable sterilization options.
Factors that directly affect Clinico’s location selections:
1. High population density.
2. High numbers of animals relinquished to or impounded by local animal shelters.
3. Active community revitalization efforts.
4. Affordable real estate leasing opportunities
5. Limited low-cost spay/neuter options.
